Nai Harn Beach on Phuket

Nai Harn is one of the most popular beaches in Phuket amongst local visitors. This quiet and peaceful beach only has a few hotels, so the beach is never too crowded. One of the most popular hotels in Nai Harn is The Royal Phuket Yacht Club that’s also an anchorage for boats and it could get really busy welcoming yachts and boats during the high season.

During high season from November to April, Nai Harn is a great place for swimming, but in low season from May to October it may not be suitable to swim here as there could be strong undertows. Just above the beach you can find several local restaurants with great settings that can be a great place for you to unwind while enjoying the beach views.

Further to the south there’s a sandy cove called Ya Nui, which is an ideal spot for snorkeling and diving. Another great diving spot is the Ao Sane beach, a tiny beach located nearby.

Nai Harn Attractions

Nai Harn is often overlooked by Phuket visitors as other west coast beaches usually get more attentions with their luxury resorts, water sports and other facilities. But if you ask those who have visited this beach, they will tell you that Nai Harn is a lovely place with unspoiled character of a tropical paradise. The peaceful beach with its white sand is definitely the main attraction of Nai Harn, but that’s not the only thing it can offer, there are a lot of other interesting attractions in Nai Harn that can make your holiday in this quiet destination even more exciting and memorable.

Ao Sane Beach – This rocky small beach on southwest coast of the island is a lovely place that has a rich underwater beauty. It’s one of the best diving spots on Phuket, but it also has a beautiful tiny beach with white sand and trees lining providing a nice shelter from the sun.

Elephant Shrine – Located not far from the car park of Promthep Cape. This is a shrine dedicated to Brahma that’s surrounded by so many wooden elephants of different size. Everything is so colorful and very well maintained in this place.

Kanchanaphisek Lighthouse – This unique lighthouse is also located at Phromthep Cape, only five minutes drive from Nai Harn. This lighthouse has a beautiful golden peak and it is also used as a mini museum. It was built to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the reign of King Rama.

Nai Harn Lake – This 1km long lake is located very close to the Nai Harn Beach. The lakeside is a very popular picnic spot. It has a small island in the middle connected to the mainland with a causeway.

Nai Harn Viewpoints – Nai Harn has a lot of great viewpoints including the most famous one in Phuket, the Phromthep Cape. Not far away from Promthep Cape you can find the Windmill Viewpoint. It’s smaller than Promthep Cape but it gives you a different beauty of the Andaman Sea. Another popular one is the Kata Viewpoint that looks over Karon, Kata Yai and Kata Noi Beaches.
