A perfect Holiday in Phuket Thailand
Phuket is a beautiful island in Thailand that has become one of the most desirable holiday destinations in the world. Being an island, doesn’t mean that Phuket Thailand is disconnected with the main land, there are two bridges connecting this island with the rest of the country for easy access. Phuket is not only the name of the island, but it’s also the name of the province and the town on the island. The province itself contains the large Phuket island some other smaller islands surrounding it.
The size of the island is pretty much like Singapore, and just like Singapore, the island of Phuket Thailand is also a very famous island in the world history, mainly to travelers and merchants because it lies on the vital trade route between China and India. This island has been mentioned so many times in the ship logs throughout history, especially ships from France, United Kingdom, Netherlands and Portugal.
In the past, Phuket Thailand is prospering from rubber and tin that are the main commodities of the island. These two commodities are also the main reason why western imperialists (England, Netherlands and France) came to Phuket competing to take over the trading. Besides western powers, Burmese also tried to conquer the island but their attempt was unsuccessful.
Even though tin and rubber industries still exist today in Phuket, the main source of income for this island is its tourism industry. This beautiful island has become a tourist magnet that keeps pulling in visitors from all over the world. Many of these visitors are return visitors that already have emotional attachment to this island and think of it as their second home.
